Carnegie Mellon University is home of the Tepper School of Business, with programs for undergraduate and graduate students. The business program was recently ranked number three nationally and internationally by The Wall Street Journal. U.S. News & World Report also ranked the undergraduate business program fifth in the country.
Many Pittsburgh residents are employed in professional and business service occupations. According to the Pennsylvania state Center for Workforce Information and Analysis, of nearly 1.2 million area workers more than 142,000 are employed in these fields, while nearly 69,000 are in financial activities, and 24,000 are in information.
